Job Title: Planning Engineer (On-Site)

Job Type: Full-time / Contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop, monitor, and update detailed project schedules using project management software (e.g.,MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Break down the project scope into detailed work packages for execution and ensure accurate scheduling.
- Prepare and manage the baseline schedule, ensuring alignment with project goals and deadlines.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and contractors to identify critical activities and schedule changes.
- Resource Allocation:
- Ensure optimal resource allocation, including labour, materials, and equipment, while keeping track of their availability.
- Monitor the utilization of resources and adjust the plan in case of delays or shortages.
- Provide insights on manpower and equipment requirements to optimize costs and improve performance.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track the progress of the construction project on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Prepare progress reports, highlighting any deviations from the plan and recommend corrective actions.
- Analyze the reasons for delays and proactively take steps to minimize them.
- Assist in preparing time-related reports for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and delays that may impact the project schedule.
- Implement mitigation plans and adjust schedules as necessary to reduce the impact of these risks.
- Recommend alternate approaches to prevent project delays and resource conflicts.
- Cost Control & Budget Management:
- Coordinate with cost estimators and engineers to monitor project budgets.
- Ensure that the project is being executed within the allocated budget and time frame.
- Assist in forecasting project cash flows and financial performance in line with the project schedule.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain all planning and scheduling documentation as per the company’s standards and local regulations.
- Ensure that all necessary approvals and permits are obtained and comply with local laws, codes, and standards.
- Ensure that all contractual requirements and deadlines are met as outlined in the project agreement.
- Coordination with Stakeholders:
- Serve as the main point of contact for all scheduling-related queries with the project manager, clients, and contractors.
- Coordinate and attend regular meetings with project teams and clients to discuss progress, issues, and solutions.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that quality control measures are integrated into the planning processes and schedules.
- Report any quality-related issues affecting progress or schedule and collaborate with the site team to resolve them.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in planning and scheduling on construction sites.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and other project management software. Knowledge of AutoCAD and other construction tools is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Local Regulations: Understanding of local construction laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including contractors, clients, and team members.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyse data, identify trends, and propose corrective actions to keep the project on track.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Project Management (PMP, PMI-SP) is a plus.
- Knowledge of construction methodologies, cost estimating, and risk management techniques.
- Experience working on large-scale projects such as commercial buildings, industrial plants, roads, bridges, or infrastructure developments.
